Hair loss is about more than hair.

For many people, hair loss affects how they see themselves — and their sense of control over their appearance.

SMP may be a visual option. The consultation helps determine whether it is right for you.

What is SMP?

Impression by impression. Layer by layer.

Scalp micropigmentation creates the appearance of closely shaved hair or greater hair density through the controlled placement of pigment impressions in the scalp.

The technique was developed specifically for the scalp and differs from a conventional decorative tattoo in its purpose, appearance, pigment selection and working method. The hairline is drawn and approved before treatment begins.

  • No surgery
  • Individually designed hairline
  • The visual effect of closely shaved hair or greater hair density
  • Can be adapted to several forms of hair loss

The experience varies. Many people describe mild discomfort, but the treatment is not described as pain-free.

CASE

Client story

From uncertainty to a natural-looking result.

Eirik wanted to regain a sense of control over his hair loss. He considered a hair transplant, but did not want a solution that required ongoing reliance on products or medication.

Before treatment, his main concern was whether SMP would look obvious or artificial. Precision, clear guidance and knowing that the result would be built gradually were important throughout the process.

How it works

A natural-looking result is built gradually.

Several layers make it possible to control density, tone and transitions. The schedule is adapted to how your skin heals.

Men’s brows

PMU brows for men

PMU for men is performed in the same way as for women. It consists of two treatments: an initial treatment and a refresh after one month. The third visit is used to evaluate the result. A hairstroke pigmentation technique is used with high-quality pigments that do not change colour over time, but may gradually become lighter with sun exposure.

For alopecia, a single treatment takes approximately five hours. Results last for approximately 3–5 years. I have more than 10 years of experience, four years of art education and have completed more than 25 PMU courses.

Before and after

The right conditions for healing.

You receive individual guidance before and after treatment. These are the most important recommendations for good healing and the best possible result.

Before treatment

01
The day before

Trim or shave your hair to approximately 1 mm and gently exfoliate the scalp. Do not exfoliate before treatment 2 or 3.

02
Alcohol

Avoid alcohol the day before and on the day of treatment.

03
Medication

Do not stop prescription medication on your own. If you take blood thinners or other prescription medicines, contact the prescribing doctor and the clinic before treatment.

After treatment

01
Days 1–5

Do not wash the scalp. Avoid exercise and activities that cause heavy sweating.

02
Day 5

Wash the scalp for the first time with a mild baby shampoo. Wash gently without rubbing or massaging the scalp.

03
After washing

Apply a small amount of coconut oil after washing. Pat it in gently without rubbing.

04
First 14 days

Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming pools and baths. Protect the scalp from direct sunlight with a hat or cap.

05
After about 14 days

Once the skin has healed completely, use SPF 50 whenever the scalp is exposed to the sun.

Questions and answers

What you need to know before deciding.

Can’t find the answer? An estimate is free and without obligation.

What is SMP?

SMP is scalp micropigmentation. Small pigment impressions are placed in a controlled way to create the appearance of closely shaved hair or greater hair density.

Who is SMP suitable for?

SMP may be suitable for a receding hairline, a thinning crown, advanced hair loss, certain scars and some forms of thinning hair in women. A consultation determines whether the treatment is suitable for you.

Does it hurt?

The experience varies. Many people describe mild discomfort and find the treatment less painful than a conventional tattoo. We do not promise that the treatment is pain-free.

How many treatments will I need?

A complete result is usually built in several layers and often involves three treatments. The number and scope are assessed individually.

How long is there between treatments?

The second treatment often takes place after 7–10 days. The third often takes place approximately 20 days later. Timing may vary depending on the skin and healing.

How long does the result last?

Longevity and the need for a refresh vary with factors such as skin, sun exposure, lifestyle and aftercare. The need is assessed individually.

Can SMP cover scars?

Certain scalp scars can be visually softened, including scars after hair transplantation. The outcome depends on the scar type, skin and contrast and must be assessed individually.

Is SMP suitable for women?

For some women with thinning hair and a visible scalp, SMP can create the impression of greater density. The treatment is not suitable for every type of hair loss.

How is the hairline chosen?

The hairline is planned during the consultation based on face shape, age, existing hair and the desired look. The aim is a balanced, natural-looking shape.

Does SMP look like a tattoo?

The technique, depth, pigment choice and impression size are adapted to the scalp and a follicle-like appearance. SMP is not designed like a conventional decorative tattoo.

When can I exercise again?

Avoid exercise, cardio and heavy sweating for the first five days, or follow the individual guidance you receive.

When can I wash my hair?

The first wash is usually on day five with a mild baby shampoo. Do not rub or massage the scalp forcefully.

How much does SMP cost?

The final price is set after an individual consultation and depends on the size of the treatment area, the degree of hair loss and the extent of treatment required. You can request a free estimate.

Who should not have SMP?

Active skin conditions, infection, certain illnesses, medication, pregnancy and breastfeeding may mean treatment must be postponed or medically cleared.

What happens when the pigment fades?

The pigment may become lighter over time. A refresh can be considered after the skin and existing result have been assessed.
